Indications
- General agreement
- Asymptomatic patients with greater than 70 %
stenosis in the presence of a contralateral
occlusion or high-grade stenosis
- Symptomatic patients
- Single focal (ipsilateral) TIA with
greater than 70 % stenosis
- Multiple focal (ipsilateral) TIA
- Greater than 70 % stenosis
- Greater than 50% stenosis with
ulceration
- Greater than 50% stenosis with
symptoms while on aspirin
- Prior stroke (ipsilateral -- mild)
- Greater than 50% stenosis
- Greater than 50% with large ulcer
- Prior stroke (ipsilateral -- moderate)
- Greater than 70% with
contralateral occlusion
- Stroke in evolution
- Greater than 70% stenosis
(ipsilateral) with or without
clot
